AART has pledged not to let any puppies or mother dogs suffer in this year's wintery chill. As promised, we have been building temporary houses for the new born and mother dogs since the start of this season. So far, we have built houses at approx. 30 locations in Berhampore. Public cooperation has been a big factor in maintaining such roadside shelter. Keep supporting us and give these voiceless some left over food because winters are harsh not only for us but for them too.
Fair For Equal Share
(Book Fair 2020)
AART had put up an exhibition cum awareness counter at the Annual Book Fair 2020 in Berhampore for the 2nd time in a row. Our aim was to inform the public about animal welfare, animal rights and also our activities. We were touched to see the overwhelming response of the mass. Lot of people came forward to join, donate & become a well-informed animal lover. Even our helplines have been buzzing continuously as more & more people have come to know of our services. We are proud to serve animal kind and hope to receive such response from public in near future too.
Daring to Care (Dec 2019)
As part of our endeavor to save new borns and mother dogs from rains, cold and changing weather conditions, AART has started to build homes at various locations in Murshidabad. We have built shelter for few dog families in Madhupur area of Berhampore. Mother dogs loved the cozy arrangement. We urge people to provide shelter to the poor dogs near their homes & not break their huts as we thoroughly believe all lives matter.
Inflicting Pain For Personal Gain
We got intimated by a call from the locals of Beldanga, Murshidabad on Saturday morning. Our members were informed that some mischievous people just for the sake of fun, had tied a rope on the neck of a poor dog. The rope got stuck on his neck resulting in severe wound & bleeding as the rope became tighter due to his body growth. The dog had been running around in pain & inflammation due to which he was unable to eat for the past several days. He was unable to remove it by himself & waiting for someone to rescue him. General public saw him in tremendous pain but no one ever helped. Our team went on the spot, removed the rope out of his neck & finally rescued him. The dog was out of his misery but the wound was too deep, needed regular dressing & medication along with proper food. So, we brought him to our shelter where his treatment has started. Hopefully he will regain his former self very soon.
Live & Let Live (Raksha Bandhan & Independence Day-15th August, 2019)
The word ‘Independence’ has a deeper meaning not only to mankind but for animal kind as well. We all aspire to gain freedom in our lives, so do they. This Independence Day, we at AART are committed to protect (Raksha) these speechless souls & gift them a better life to live. We always find ways to celebrate various occasions with them to spread love & joy in their lives. We celebrated this festival of protecting their freedom with free meals to delight them. For us festivities and celebrations revolve around animal world only. We thoroughly believe that freedom will gain its real meaning only, when every life on this planet has the freedom to move and grow in his natural way in the true spirit.
Hide & Seek
We at AART got intimated by a call on 24th Aug, Saturday early morning, that a puppy had got up on the roof of Murshidabad collectorate building. When the guards tried to scare him, he jumped over to another building. No one was able & ready to rescue him from the four storied building. Our team immediately went for the rescue operation & with the help of net our members finally rescued the puppy. He could not go anywhere alone, so could had jumped, leading to severe injuries. But finally, the tragedy was averted only because of the strong interest & cooperation of our team members to serve the animal kind
Meeting Their Tragic Fate
Last week three similar cases of train accident were reported to us at AART, from Cossimbazar, Bazarsau and Azimganj in Murshidabad. Two of them had completely lost their hind limbs and the other had fractured a leg. We rescued them from the spot in extreme pain & agony, brought to our shelter for proper treatment & provided food to them, but their life won't be same as before. Our shelter will be their permanent home now on, as they won't be able to walk on four limbs and compete with their fellow friends.
Unleash The Leash
We got intimated by a call that a dog while catching fish from a nearby pond, a fishing hook got stuck in his mouth on Saturday at Rajbari area in Coochbehar. He was in immense pain for two days and was unable to eat or drink anything until we were informed. Our team members took keen interest to rescue him and took out the iron hook from his mouth to relieve him from his misery. We are glad that we could add a difference in his life.
Voice For The Voiceless
AART organized Walk for Dog 2019 on Sunday 15th September at Berhampore, Murshidabad. We received excellent response from all animal lovers & caregivers, around 200 persons lent their feet to be a part of the awareness rally for the cause of animal welfare. The event ended on a great note for AART, as we reached in & out of the area to solve animal cruelty complaints and educated people on animal laws & reached much appreciation. Without the outstanding team support & help of the volunteers, it would not have been possible to make the event a grand success. AART is committed for the well-being of Animals, thereby strengthening the human animal bond.
Anti-Rabies vaccine Campaign (ARV) on Sunday, 28th July in Berhampore, Lalbagh, Azimganj & Jiaganj in Murshidabad. Door to Door vaccination was given to around 1000 dogs along with proper nursing.

As soon as we were informed by the locals, we went to the dog and removed the rope and brought him to our shelter as the wounds were very deep.
Kitty Affair
A cat met an accident. As soon as we were informed, we went to the spot to rescue the cat. She was lying on the road for 5 hours without any motion. On examine we found that the cat was pregnant. Unfortunately, the kittens died in her womb but we did save the mother cat. She is unable to move her lower back. With timely care and food she has improved.She loves to laze around with her newly found friends in shelter, this time a different kind of friends: dogs.
Our shelter cum office of AART at Uttarpara, Berhampore is now flooded with stray animals. The unit offers treatment and shelter for the disabled animals. Soon after the launch of Animal Ambulance service, we started picking up accident & much needed treatment cases to provide proper medical aid.
AART Ambulance
After the successful launch of animal shelter cum treatment center at Uttarpara & Berhampore. Now moving a step ahead with the aim to extend on time treatment to these speechless innocent souls, now AART has launched its first Animal Ambulance Service.
An adult dog fell down in 14 feet deep pi, dug at under construction site in Berhampore. He was unable to climb due to the height & steep boundaries of the site. Out team went there for his rescue operation and provided him with food and water, finally he was relieved out of his misery.
AART Shelter cum office:
AART opened its first shelter cum office on 12th June,2019. Additional District Magistrate of Murshidabad inaugurated the shelter cum office on Wednesday. The unit of AART offers treatment & shelter facility for disabled dogs.
Animal birth control & canine Sterilization Drive was began on 18th May, 2019 for one month to sterilize dogs so that canine population can be brought under control. Dogs were sterilized at Berhampore Polyclinic Hospital.
Food for the hungry souls
It was organized on 13th May, 2019 at night.Our members actively took part in this noble cause of feeding the animals. We are delighted to serve the hungry dogs & could make a little difference in the lives of the speechless innocent souls.
Patra - 12th May,2019 :
'Patra’,water bowl distribution campaign in Murshidabad. Our members distributed around 100 pots in various parts of Berhampore. People are now conscious about helping these poor souls in the scorching heat. We distributed the pots who showed their keen interest for this noble cause.
Food distribution
Food distribution program was held from 15th April every night when majority of the dogs roam around the streets in search of food. Every night at 10 pm our team fed almost 150 dogs in and around Berhampore.
Calamity of an ox
A huge ox was hit by a train by a train near Berhanpore station on 23rd April, 2019. The train dragged the ox for around 10-15 feet giving him major injuries. We reached the accident spot, rescued him and gave him necessary medication to reduce his plight.

A photography contest was held where the best photos were awarded.
Spread Joy & Not Harmful Colours in their Lives (17th March 2019)
Three days Holi Campaign was conducted to urge people not to throw colours on animals. Around 80 - 100 members and volunteers distributed sweets and leaflets themed "Spread Joy & Not Harmful Colours in Their Lives" in different blocks of Murshidabad including Berhampore, Beldanga, Lalbagh.
Anti Rabies vaccine Campaign ARV Phase IV (24th February 2019)
Door to Door Vaccination was given to especially Mother dogs in Berhampore. 10 teams of 40 members held the drive.
Sparsh (9th February 2019)
AART organized a heart touching programme named ‘Sparsh’ at Rabindra Sadan, Murshidabad on 9th February 2019 on animal welfare for spreading awareness. We addressed issues like ‘Animal Triggering’ themed as ‘Stand For Voiceless’ which deals about animal welfare & Animal cruelty.
Gheu (12th January 2019)
We came together for the noble cause of animal welfare by spreading awareness through our drama named ‘Gheu’ which was a grand success in Berhampore, Murshidabad.
Karuna’
As part of our Awareness drive, we have planned a series of programmes to be conducted in educational institutions. We began our initiative by conducting a programme in Gitaram Academy and presented a heart wrenching play followed by a session on Animal Rights and Laws. The audience comprised of kids and young school students who showed great enthusiasm throughout the session.
Anti Rabies Day (28th and 29th September)
We celebrated World Anti Rabies Day by vaccinating over 2000 dogs and we spearheaded a mass vaccination programme for the stray dogs. The program witnessed huge public support which helped us in conducting our drive very easily.
Food for All (16th September)
FAS is a noble initiative taken up by us. A team of 50 driven volunteers fed and administered first aid, on spot treatment to around 2000 dogs in Berhampore, Lalbagh, Azimganj, as a part of Food for All souls Program of 16th September 2018.
De-worming camp - two phases (1st September & 15th September)
A de-worming camp was organised Berhampore, Lalbagh, Azimganj, Jiaganj sub-divisions of Murshidabad on 1st and 15th September. A team of 50 dedicated members braved the rains and the wrath of weather to provide de-worming medicine and on the spot first aid to the four legged friends in need. The event was a huge success.
WORLD DOG DAY RALLY (26th August)
We celebrated world dog day by vaccinating over 100 stray dogs. It is just a baby step towards the revolution we plan to trigger in future. As for us everyday should be a happy day for every dog.
